Out of the Shadows

Like an actor waiting amongst the side line shadows you were there.  You knew not who the actress might be to play the leading role, for all you kept seeing was one dressed in Comedy and Tragedy.

Yet silently and patiently you waited, until one day you could wait no longer for this actress, this mystery women who so captivated your heart and mind to tell you all she holds dear.  You longed to speak with her, to hear her voice.  How would it sound?  Like honey to a longing soul or harsh and un-welcoming like one who has just interrupted a peaceful slumber.  Will you take the chance?

Yes, you say, I will take a chance, as soon as she comes into the light.  Shall we not take a look at this mystery women that has so enchanted your soul?

Yes let's.  For all your patience and for all your intent of knowing her you have seen but a glimpse of her, you have seen her outer shell the knowing that she wears Comedy and Tragedy on her face.  Many times over you have wondered Why?  What great worth do these two faces have to her?  Thus you now wish to know the many secrets she holds inside.  But how will you approach her?  What convincing words will you use to tell her you are sincere in knowing all she holds dear?

Ahhh!  You say you are ahead of me, that you have just the words to woo a lady.  Come! Come!  Tell me these words!

Listen you tell me, here is what I wish to say to the fair lady afar:

Now fair lady, Come!  Let me know who you are, for I have patiently waited and have silently longed to know you.  Do come and reveal to me all that you are.  I promise I will forever be here by your side, forever be a part of you.  Do let me love you like no other, let me hold for you all your secrets within my open heart.  I will forever cherish them.  I will keep each memory of yours forever locked within me and never tell a soul what you have entrusted in me.  As sweet music for a forever concert of the heart will your words and feelings forever be to me.  So have no fear fair lady, for I am an honest man and have come to tell you truthfully that I have watched you and have longed to know you, to know your inner most secrets.  Will you take my hand?  Will you trust me?  Friends for now if that be your wish for trust takes time, I understand.  But you must tell me why you wear this mask, this Comedy and Tragedy with you for years on end.  No one should carry such a mask and never let the world know of what hidden things that have made one laugh or made one smile through the years.  Please, fair lady?  Come?

She has spoken!  What were those words again fair lady?  Ahhh!  A soft but surely spoken Hello.  Hello fair lady.  O you do not know the relief I feel for having heard your voice at last!  Please speak again.

Listen!  She has spoken again!  O do my ears deceive me?  She has such a voice, ever so soft as it is, yet like honey to a longing soul.  Oh, now hear this please, she says she too has waited just as calmly and just as patiently as if she were a lasting star amongst the thousands of other stars in the midnight sky.  To her it seems as though forever will it be until someone dares to come and sense what beauty she beholds.  More does she say.  Are you listening?  Are you hearing her?

Comedy and Tragedy is what she wears night and day and for years on end for the many secrets she says she beholds have told her that this mask is the best one to wear.  She wonders why share so many secrets with Comedy when Tragedy always seems to follow.  Thus, Comedy and Tragedy have 'er been her companions of night and of day.

Sweet lady, I am sure you have heard my voice and thus have heard of my heartfelt promises to always be true to you.  I--yes I, do indeed wish to be that one true love you have longed to find.  To be the one who chases away those shadows from long ago.  No more will you wear such a mask of Comedy and Tragedy, for with my help always will you wear the happy face of Comedy.  No, do not fear that Tragedy will follow, for I promise you once more Tragedy will not follow us.

Now I understand your fears, your reasonings, your wishes.  But I am so glad you have decided to step into the light.  Will you trust me fair lady?  Will you trust me? <whisper>

One tiny hand she has extended to me.  Yes!  This is a beginning, however small it may be.  Fair lady, for your doing so it is thus together we have stepped from Out of the Shadows and Into the Light.
